Larry Kessler Composition II Abstract Oil on Canvas Painting, 2007

$4,600.00

Description
Original oil on canvas painting with outer wood frame by Larry Kessler. Larry Kessler began his art instruction at Cooper Union and the Art Students of New York. Interspersed with his studies were freelance work and a good deal of art studio experience. His formal training completed, Kessler studied consecutively with Robert Gwathmey, Byron Browne and Stephen Greene, to all of whom he ascribes important contributions to the development of his present style and versatility. His first exhibition was at the Peter Cooper Gallery in New York, and it was comprised of a collection of paintings, drawings and collages. His work has been favorably reviewed by Art News. This was followed by showings in New York and Florida galleries. While he personally leaned toward oil on canvas, Kessler's capabilities in other media are clearly shown in his work: an attractive variety of expressionistic and both abstract and semi-abstract drawings and collages, including some delicate and singularly sensitive drawings of heads and nudes. Larry Kessler's work shows a shrewd intensity on keeping alive the interaction between stroke, plan and color while not straying too far from reality.
